Due to the potential hazards, it poses to populated Areas, Mauna Loa became the part of Decade Volcanoes program, which is aimed at studying the world's most dangerous volcanoes.
The alert level has been upgraded from an 'advisory' to a 'warning' level. According to the official notification added by Hawaiian Volcano Observatory (HVO), it would conduct an aerial reconnaissance ASAP.
A volcanic eruption can harm crops and animals and also reduce visibility in the surrounding area. It is advised that people with respiratory illnesses should remain indoors so that they can avoid inhaling the ash particles.
Minor changes in the Volcano had been closely monitored by the scientists, which was showing signs of increased seismic activity for the past few months. Because of this particular reason, all the high-elevation areas have been closed for some time now.
